One World Hotel Staff Toast To Their First Successful Decade

The management and staff of One World Hotel celebrated their annual dinner in style in conjunction with the hotel’s 10th Anniversary which took place at Ruby Ballroom recently. It was a fun-filled night as the employees came decked out in glamourous and finest outfits according to the theme, Grand 10. The event was attended by the directors YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ (Ir.) Teo Chiang Hong, YBhg Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok and YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang together with the family’s matriarch, YBhg Puan Sri To’ Puan Cheng Gek Hong.

The evening kicked-off with an amazing opening gambit by Xuan Long Dragon and Lion Dance troupe, followed by a speech by hotel director, YBhg Tan Sri Teo Chiang Hong to officiate the night. He expressed his gratitude to all the employees for their hard work and dedication to the organisation since its inception in 2007. “Our employees are our asset. And a decade of success would not have been possible without your tireless efforts and excellent contributions towards One World Hotel. However, there’s still so much more to do and improve especially with the highly competitive hospitality industry. Nevertheless, I definitely look forward to embarking yet another decade of success!”, said Tan Sri Teo Chiang Hong.

Host cum entertainer, MC Cool Charles continued to spiced up the evening with his cheeky phrases and witty commentaries. Later that evening, homegrown boy band, Fourteen wowed the audience with energetic performance as well as engaging hilarious stage activities with associates. The crowd was then surprised with another special appearance from Amylea Azizan, Akademi Fantasia star, who graced the stage with her powerful and flawless voice.

Among the highlights of the night were department performances, best dressed contest, announcement of the hotel’s Superstars of the Year as well as presentation of 5-Year and 10-Year Service Awards to 111 associates in total. Mr Genessen a/l Pavada Naickan (Maintenance Department) and Ms Chia Shu Qi (Front Office), were crowned ‘Superstars of the Year 2016’, each received RM1,000 cash prize and a certificate for their outstanding services both internally and externally.

Apart from the exciting performances, lucky winners also walked away with exciting prizes which include Modenas Mr1 motorcycle, several 49’’ LED TV, Huawei Android smartphone, washing machine, refrigerator, air conditioner and Travel Vouchers inclusive of flight ticket and accommodation to name a few. The lucky Grand Prize winner, Muhammad Iman Bin Mohd Tajudin from Kitchen Department brought home RM5,000 in cash.

Pelancongan berkumpulan adalah sangat popular dalam kalangan 1,000 penduduk milenial Malaysia (lahir 1982 dan selepas itu) yang ditinjau selidik, dengan 91 peratus daripada responden memilih untuk melancong bersama rakan dan keluarga mereka setiap kali. Hanya lapan peratus yang meluangkan sebahagian besar masa untuk melancong secara solo. Mereka juga membuat perancangan awal, 66% daripada responden melaporkan bahawa mereka merancang berminggu-minggu lebih awal, dan hanya 5% daripada responden merancang percutian mereka beberapa hari lebih awal.

Ini bermakna keseronokan bercuti bermula sebelum kita menjejakkan kaki di destinasi kita atau membuat tempahan tiket penerbangan. Untuk membolehkan sesuatu destinasi menarik kunjungan rakyat Malaysia, faktor ketermampuan merupakan penentu utama, dengan 86% daripada responden menganggap faktor ini sebagai salah satu pertimbangan utama mereka. Seramai 45% daripada responden lebih suka menuju ke destinasi yang kelihatan cantik di dalam gambar, atau dengan kata lain, Instagrammable.

Rakyat Malaysia adalah pengguna Instagram paling aktif di Asia Pasifik (Kantar TNS, 2016), dan mereka suka berkongsi gambar percutian mereka dengan rakan-rakan dan keluarga menerusi platform media sosial. Sudah pasti cara terbaik untuk berbuat demikian ialah mengunjungi destinasi serba indah di mana mereka boleh mengambil gambar dan memuat naik gambar terbaik untuk Instagram, tanpa sebarang filter (penapis)!

Rakyat Malaysia suka bersosial – dari saat merancang hinggalah semasa melancong

Sebahagian besar daripada perancangan perjalanan pelancong milenial Malaysia merupakan aktiviti menyeronokkan yang dikongsi bersama orang lain. Kajian menunjukkan bahawa perancangan perjalanan ialah aktiviti sosial dengan 74 peratus daripada responden menyatakan bahawa mereka merancang percutian bersama rakan dan keluarga.

Golongan milenial Malaysia juga bergantung kepada rakan dan keluarga untuk memberikan maklumat terbaik tentang destinasi mereka, dengan 50 peratus berkata maklumat dari mulut ke mulut sebagai sumber terbaik. Aspek sosial diluaskan lagi kepada ulasan dalam talian oleh pelancong lain, dengan 82 peratus daripada golongan milenial yang ditinjau selidik menyatakan bahawa mereka dipengaruhi oleh ulasan dalam talian semasa merancang perjalanan.

Jessica menambah, “Kami memahami kuasa ulasan umum dalam mempengaruhi keputusan kembara masa kini, dan sukacita untuk menyediakan lebih 25 juta ulasan tetamu sebenar yang ditentusahkan di laman kami.”

Penginapan ialah perkara pertama yang dirancang dan sebahagian besar masa diluangkan untuknya  

86% daripada golongan milenial akan mula merancang penginapan mereka selepas menentukan destinasi, berbanding 80% bagi pengangkutan (penerbangan, bas, keretapi, dll.) dan 50% bagi jadual kembara. Dalam kalangan mereka yang berbuat demikian, sebahagian besar meluangkan masa berjam-jam setiap hari mencari penginapan terbaik – 54% meluangkan masa antara dua hingga 10 jam, 35% menghabiskan masa sehingga sejam dan 11% meluangkan masa lebih 10 jam.

Selera pelancong Malaysia tidak berubah di luar negara – 98% meluangkan lebih banyak masa untuk mencari restoran Asia, dengan 48% daripada mereka mengambil masa lebih sejam berbuat demikian. Ternyata, Rakyat Malaysia dan mi goreng, nasi lemak dan nasi ayam, memang berpisah tiada.

Percutian halal juga popular dalam kalangan rakyat Malaysia, dengan 97% daripada pelancong Melayu dalam keji selidik ini meluangkan masa untuk menyelidiki pilihan menjamu selera halal sebelum membuat keputusan kembara masing-masing. Sebanyak 51% meluangkan masa lebih daripada sejam berbuat demikian.
