As in the men’s collection, the female mood also advocates the use of premium but always current and modern fabrics. In the AW2017 collection the colour palettes oscillate between the warm gradient tones of burgundy to pink, from brown to dark beige, and neutral tones like gray and white.

For its second outing at Malaysia’s premiere fashion event, the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2017 (KLFW2017), Tarik Jeans (Tarik) presents to you a collection entitled “Nusa Bencana”. The collection is inspired by an ancient geographical entity called Suvarṇabhūmi, which means “Land of Gold” in Sanskrit. In old Malay text, it is referred to as “Nusa (land) Kencana (gold)”.

Nusa Bencana is commonly thought to refer to the Southeast Asian Peninsula, including lower Burma and the Malay Peninsula. However there is another gold-referring term Suvarnadvipa (the Golden Peninsula), which may correspond to the Indonesian Archipelago, especially Sumatra.

Both terms might refer to a powerful coastal or island kingdom in present-day Indonesia and Malaysia, possibly centered on Sumatra or Java. An eighth-century Indian text known as the “Samaraiccakaha” describes a sea voyage to Suvarnabhumi. This sea voyage pointed out to the direction of western part of insular Southeast Asia, especially Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, Southern Thailand, Borneo and Java.

Nusa Bencana (translated “Disaster Land”), is a word-play on an imaginary state alienated by the government, populated by rogues, outcasts, immigrants, refugees and those deemed to be estranged from the norm. The dragon has been chosen to represent Nusa Bencana. Refered to as Nāga in Sanskrit, the word also means ‘deity’ or ‘class of entity’ found in the Indian religions and culture. Nagas are important players in many of the events narrated in the epic Mahabrata, sometimes evil and sometimes on the side of good. The epic frequently characterizes nagas as having a mixture of human and serpent-like traits.

Making its appearance in this KLFW2017 presentation are Tarik’s Type II Trucker Jacket, their updated Premium Slim Ramlee and Skinny Din jeans, the Mahmoud bootcut, the Type I Trucker Jacket in collaboration with Mihane Jeans from Indonesia, the 60 years Merdeka Slim Ramlee jeans in collaboration with Kronoz Denim, Nusa Bencana logo T-shirts, the ever popular Who’s Your Mamak varsity jacket version 2.0 and other one-off key pieces specially created for the show including batik shirts and tote bags made out of gunny sacks.

This year, Tarik also collaborated with Caterpillar (official shoe) joining other local brands that are friends of Tarik’s such as The Extra Piece and Maslea.

Lebih 100 Buah Negara Bakal Sertai World Fashion Week® Malaysia 2017

World Fashion Week® Malaysia 2017 (WFW Malaysia 2017) yang dianjurkan oleh World Fashion Week Malaysia Siri 2017/18 akan dianjurkan secara rasmi di Kuala Lumpur dari 8 hingga 10hb September 2017. Acara akan berlangsung di Kuala Lumpur dan akan mengalu-alukan para pereka fesyen dan wakil lebih 100 buah negara dari seluruh dunia.

Dengan tema ‘Eco Fashion & Lifestyles – Cintai Alam’, WFW Malaysia 2017 adalah meraikan seni fesyen seiring dengan identiti budaya dengan mempamerkan pertunjukan fesyen oleh pelbagai negara. Acara itu akan mengumpulkan ribuan pelawat dari Malaysia dan komuniti antarabangsa, serta pembeli utama, peruncit dan rakan media antarabangsa termasuk penyiar global rasmi – FashionTV yang akan menjangkau lebih dari 300 juta orang penonton dari 190 buah negara.

Penganjuran World Fashion Week® Malaysia 2017 Kini Di Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Acara antarabangsa itu akan memperlihatkan pertunjukan fesyen oleh pelbagai negara, mengetengahkan koleksi dan trend bagi tahun 2018, serta pertandingan pereka dan fotografi, di mana pemenang akan menyertai Supermodel Adriana Lima dalam Siri TV Hollywood yang akan datang “American Beauty Star” tahun 2018. Pemenang juga akan menyertai Week World Fashion Week® Paris 2017/18, di antara acara antarabangsa yang lain.

Di samping itu, World Fashion Week Malaysia 2017 akan memperkenalkan komitmen dan kesedarannya terhadap tanggungjawab alam sekitar, dengan tumpuan khusus dalam kawalan deforestasi dan pemeliharaan biodiversiti di Malaysia dan di seluruh dunia. Duta Fesyen Dunia Malaysia 2017 & Duta Alam Sekitar, Yg Bhg Puan Sri Puan Dato’ Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil berkata, ‘Fesyen adalah universal dalam kehidupan setiap orang dan adalah amat penting untuk kita memberi perhatian kepada apa yang kita pakai dan dari mana ia datang ‘.

Memperjuangkan industri fesyen dan tekstil global untuk menjana pertumbuhan ekonomi, aktiviti keusahawanan, pemahaman budaya, memperkasakan wanita di negara-negara membangun ke arah pembasmian kemiskinan.

WFW Malaysia 2017 akan menjadi platform antarabangsa untuk para pereka fesyen dan profesional industri dari seluruh dunia untuk mempamerkan bakat mereka kepada pasaran Asia yang semakin berkembang serta pasaran global secara keseluruhan. Malaysia menyediakan suasana yang luar biasa bukan sahaja untuk fesyen, tetapi sebagai destinasi pelancongan; serta sokongan dan komitmen berterusan terhadap tanggungjawab pemeliharaan alam sekitar. WFW Malaysia 2017 akan mengalu-alukan penyertaan bakat baru dalam industri fesyen dengan tema budaya dan alam semula jadi. Acara ini akan mendedahkan pereka tempatan yang baru muncul mengorak langkah ke pentas antarabangsa dengan 20 penyertaan tempatan yang mewakili Malaysia di World Fashion Week® Paris 2017. Acara tahun ini telah menerima sejumlah peserta dari pelbagai Negara. Antaranya adalah di kalangan 110 peserta yang akan mewakili negara Sepanyol, Afrika Selatan, Argentina, Kanada, Thailand, Indonesia, Tanzania, Rusia, Sweden, Mexico, Senegal, Jepun, China, Vietnam, Columbia, Itali, Nigeria, Amerika Syarikat dan banyak lagi.

Mengalu-alukan Penyertaan Lebih 100 Buah Negara Di Bawah Kempen ‘Eco Fashion & Lifestyles – Cintai Alam’

Pada 2015, WFW menjemput Puan Maziah Mohamad, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif, GID (M) Sdn Bhd untuk menjadi salah seorang penceramah bagi Pameran Fesyen Sedunia dan menyentuh topik penting – peningkatan teknologi tekstil dalam industri fesyen. Pada tahun ini, WFW telah melantik GID (M) Sdn Bhd secara eksklusif untuk menganjurkan WFW 2017 di Malaysia sebagai kerjasama dengan industri fesyen tempatan dan antarabangsa.

Berhubung dengan kepentingan tekstil bio dalam industri fesyen, Puan Maziah menyatakan, ‘WFW Malaysia 2017 dengan amat mengalu-alukan penganjuran acara yang berprestij ini. Ini adalah sebagai langkah pertama kepada pereka fesyen tempatan untuk mengorak langkah ke persada antarabangsa. Disamping penggunan Biotekstil dan penggunaan bahan yang mampan hendaklah sejajar dengan perkembangan industri Fesyen dan Gaya Hidup kita secara keseluruhan’.

Presiden World Fashion Week, Mr Paco De Jaimes berkata, ‘WFW Malaysia 2017 akan membawa peluang baru bagi platform antarabangsa melalui pendedahan kepada bakat baru dan tempatan, menjadi tempat untuk peluang perdagangan, mempromosikan budaya dan gaya hidup dari Malaysia serta tanggungjawab sosial untuk melindungi alam sekitar dan menyumbang kepada masa hadapan generasi akan datang’.

Acara 3 hari ini akan mempamerkan pelbagai aktiviti fesyen yang terdiri daripada Makan Malam Gala WFW, pertunjukan fesyen, pameran serta gerai promosi dari para peraka fesyen. Pra-acara yang akan bermula pada bulan Ogos ini akan menyenaraikan pelbagai pertandingan sepeti World Fashion Supermodel (WFSM), Pameran Fesyen Dunia (WFE), pertandingan Fotografi (WFP), Fashion Talk, Preview Fesyen pada bulan Ogos dan Larian Ceria Fesyen pada bulan September 2017.

Sehingga kini, pelbagai pereka fesyen tempatan telah dipilih untuk menyertai acara seperti Chee Yee Arun, Mohd Saiful Izham Ahmad ‘Arun Sayfull’, Nizam Zamil, Jharum oleh HN, Adamaya oleh Datin Sharifah Shawati, Nafis Jewellery by Krafdunia Design dan Blitz by heintje.

Sejajar dengan objektif acara antarabangsa, WFW Malaysia 2017 menggalakkan perpaduan di kalangan masyarakat antarabangsa serta tanggungjawab sosial terhadap alam sekitar. WFW juga turut memfokuskan kepada pembasmian kemiskinan di benua Afrika dengan memperkasakan wanita di negara-negara membangun, mempromosikan perdagangan adil serta mesej perpaduan dan keamanan global.
