Sekitar Malam Pembukaan AIFFA 2017

The juries of ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA) has announced 31 shortlisted films in running for 15 coveted award categories in this third edition of AIFFA. The shortlisted films from more than 100 submission embodies AIFFA objective which is celebrating the very best of ASEAN film makers and their creativity.

AIFFA 2017 REVEALS FINALISTS

The reveal was announced during the AIFFA 2017 opening Night held at Kuching Amphitheatre and attended and officiated by YB Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak. Also at the event were foreign dignitaries, officers from Sarawak State Government Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and AIFFA 2017 delegates.

The AIFFA 2017 Opening Night wowed the crowd with exclusive and exciting content. The darling of Sarawak – Dayang Nurfaizah, the legendary Dato’ David Arumugam of Alleycats serenaded Kuchingites with their hit songs. The celebration goers were also entertained by ASEAN’s favourite contractor, the famous Phua Chu Kang and also children’s favourite animation character, Upin and Ipin.

 Kuchingites Celebrates As They Set a Guinness World Record

During the opening night, the AIFFA Songbird competition winners took centre stage and also for the first time, The Guinness World Record’s Longest Hand Woven Mat made by the ladies from the Peng Doh Belaga was shown to the public and presented to the Sarawak State Government as a symbolic to Sarawak’s innovation and creativity and a national heritage.

The people of Kuching also celebrated the achievement of setting a Guinness World Record for The Largest Gathering of People in Cat Costumes. 440 strong and enthusiastic crowds dressed up in cat costumes and set a new record. Guinness World Records representative, Miss Houda verified the attempt and handed over the official certificate of recognition to YB Datuk Amar.

 Star Studded Opening Night a Crowd Hit

The winners of Young Cuts Sarawak, a youth short film education and competition that was organized in conjunction with AIFFA 2017 was also celebrated. At Adau with his film Ajen OKU (Wait For Me) was announced the winner and received RM5000 and a trophy. An entry titled ‘Kumang’ by Jeremy Jacky, won second place and received RM4000 and a trophy. Third place went to Taktik Kotor Production with their entry titled Sense of My Fairland received RM3000 and a trophy. All prizes were presented by YBhg Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Tourism Sarawak.

AIFFA will continue to shine a spotlight and support on the very best emerging talent of film makers in the industry. Sarawak Young Cuts sees quality submissions and a fresh take of film inspiration from the young Sarawakian film makers.

AIFFA has grown to become one of the premier film fests in ASEAN in a short time given its biennial status. It continues to attract the interest of cinema audiences who have come to appreciate thoughtful and skillful ASEAN storytelling and to discover the best of the best films in the region.

There are awards in 16 categories which recognize the contributions of directors, directors of photography, actors, writers and editors as well as for lifetime achievement and inspiration.

The ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards 2017 (AIFFA) returns with more publicity for local, ASEAN and International film celebrities to converge in Kuching from 4 – 6 May 2017. The AIFFA 2017 edition celebrates ASEAN’s golden anniversary by highlighting the best creative film talents in Malaysia and within the 600 million ASEAN population.

The launch was attended by His Excellency Jojie Samuel, Director-General, ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat, YBhg Tuan Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, Deputy Director-General of Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia (FINAS), YBhg Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, Director-General of Information Department Malaysia, YBhg Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba, Deputy President of Film Producers Association Malaysia, ASEAN celebrities including Mercedes Cabral from the Philippines and Malaysia’s very own Bront Palare, Sharifah Amani, Siti Saleha, Vanidah Imran, Rashidi Ishak and Chew Kim Wah.

The ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards 2017 (AIFFA) is set to return in May and is ready to wow the local, ASEAN and International film enthusiasts with bigger and bolder activities and content. From 4th – 6th May, Kuching will be the center of ASEAN and the film world as celebrities from ASEAN will converge with the same goal – uniting and celebrating the best of ASEAN Golden years through film and creativity.

Speaking at the press conference after Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture meeting, YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister said, “On behalf of the Sarawak State Government, I am excited to see the third installation of AIFFA. We are honoured to host the ASEAN creative industry, and with open arms we extend our warm and generous welcome. AIFFA has reached its full objective in uniting and establishing the ASEAN film industry for both the leading personalities in front of the camera as well as for the creative souls behind the magical camera of film making. Kuching is ready and all geared up to make this third instalment of AIFFA a memorable experience for all the delegates.”

YB Datuk Lee also pointed out that Sarawak and ASEAN remain a fantastic place of creativity. Blessed with natural heritage in the region, it has also become the source of inspiration for filmmakers all over the world. All the 10 countries of ASEAN including Malaysia and Sarawak, of course, are natural studios that will enhance ASEAN’s filmmakers creativity and storytelling prowess.

YB Datuk Lee further remarked, “AIFFA 2017 in Kuching is set to make its mark and reach the world. AIFFA 2017 is planning to break the Guinness World Record for the largest crowd in cat costumes in Kuching. There will also be Café Film Talks and the much awaited Gala Awards Nite. Several pre-event activities like ASEAN Song Bird Karaoke Competition, Children Colouring Contest, ASEAN Food Truck Fest and ASEAN Movie Screenings take place in April and will continue until early May. Kuchingites are all in for a treat from this month till next month. This is what I love about AIFFA, it is educating, engaging and importantly the content inspires the people of Kuching and of course the tourists too in our beloved city”.

Festival Director, Livan Tajang said, “AIFFA 2017 promises even more exciting activities for everyone. International, ASEAN and Malaysian delegates and film enthusiasts will enjoy the educational Café Crawl, the 3-day film screenings at selected cinemas and the star studded opening night at the Kuching Amphitheatre. The AIFFA Biz World for networking business sessions and exhibitions will benefit many ASEAN business communities and film enthusiasts. This is through our partnership with the South East Asia Audio Visual Association (SAAVA). Also, in conjunction with AIFFA 2017, the Young Cuts Sarawak Youth Short Film Education & Competition 2017 was introduced for aspiring Sarawakian filmmakers.

Locals are in for a treat as The Woman Who Left will be the Opening Film at the AIFFA Opening Night at the Kuching Amphitheatre. This was the Golden Lion Winner at the Vienna Film Fest 2016, a film by the famous director Lav Diaz from The Philippines. The 4th May is open to the public free of charge and you can come in from 4pm, if possible in your cat costume as we do have a Guinness World Record t-shirt for those who are part of the attempt and qualify as a participant of Guinness World Record. The Gala Nite, of course, is the climax of AIFFA 2017. The public are welcomed to experience the glitz and glamour of the Gala Nite with performances by Indonesian singer Judika, duet by Malaysia’s actress and singer Nur Fazura and Philippines’s heart throb Jason Dy and appearance by world’s funniest comedian Harith Iskander. Of course, the most important part is who wins the coveted AIFFA trophies.”

Livan further remarked, “We are delighted to partner with Grab Car for this year’s edition of AIFFA. Sekitar Pelancaran Festival Filem Antarabangsa ASEAN AIFFA 2017

Dua tahun, dirasakan tak lah lama sangat. Pejam celik pejam celik, dah 2017. Terasa baru semalam AIFFA 2015 berlangsung. Hari ini, satu lagi permulaan dalam jurnal Budiey di mana Blog Budiey.com dapat tugasan untuk menjadi Blog Rasmi untuk mempromosikan acara serta menjadi platform sosial media menyebarkan info tentang AIFFA 2017.

Masuk ni, dah kali ke-3 Budiey buat liputan di AIFFA dan kali ini, untuk tahun 2017 Budiey sangat teruja untuk bertemu sekali lagi dengan orang Kuching Sarawak yang sangat ramah tamah.

Hari ini, pagi-pagi lagi Budiey keluar rumah menuju ke Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya untuk buat liputan AIFFA 2017.

Festival Filem Antarabangsa ASEAN (AIFFA) 2017 kembali dengan lebih gempak di mana ia sekali lagi menghimpunkan pelakon dan penggiat filem tempatan, ASEAN dan antarabangsa berlangsung di Kuching, Sarawak pada 4 hingga 6 Mei 2017.

Jadi, kepada orang Sarawak, kita akan berjumpa sekali lagi untuk memeriahkan lagi acara ini. Banyak aktiviti menarik telah disusun untuk korang sertai.

Terdapat 16 kategori anugerah yang dipertandingkan bagi mengiktiraf pengarah, pelakon, penulis skrip, juru edit, pengarah fotografi dan juga anugerah sepanjang hayat.

AIFFA 2017 kali ini lebih bermakna kerana ia disambut bersama dengan ulangtahun jubli emas ASEAN yang ke-100 (Golden Anniversary). Kali ini, AIFFA lebih menumpukan perhatian kepada bakat kreativiti filem terbaik di Malaysia dan juga 600 juta populasi ASEAN. Budiey berpendapat sudah tiba masanya AIFFA memberi ruang yang luas kepada bakat-bakat baru yang semakin tumbuh seperti cendawan.

Di dalam negara kita sahaja, kita dapat lihat pelakon baru yang berbakat untuk diketengahkan sebagai calon. Takdelah kita nampak orang yang sama sahaja hadir dan memeriahkan AIFFA. Kalau boleh pelakon sensasi yang hot masa kini seperti Fattah Amin perlu diterbangkan ke Kuching, Sarawak untuk menarik peminat. Betul tak?

Siri jelajah AIFFA di Kuala Lumpur bermula dengan pelancaran pada hari ini di mana menyaksikan perasmian yang cukup simbolik oleh YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin selaku Penolong Timbalan Menteri Pelancongan Sarawak mewakili YAB Datuk Amar Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg, Ketua Menteri Sarawak.

Pelancaran AIFFA di sebuah universiti swasta di Kuala Lumpur pastinya menjadi titik tolak untuk memperkenalkan lagi AIFFA kepada pelajar di mana pada hari ini juga akan diadakan bengkel.

Turut hadir pada hari ini Yang Berbahagia Ambassor Jojie Samuel selaku Pengarah Sekretariat Kebangsaan ASEAN – Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia Tuan Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, Timbalan Pengarah Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia FINAS, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman Pengarah Jabatan Informasi Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba selaku Timbalan Presiden Persatuan Pengarah Filem serta beberapa orang selebriti dan pelakon terkenal seperti Vanidah Imran, Sharifah Amani dan ramai lagi.

Yang Berbahagia Datuk Lee Kim Shin memberitahu AIFFA 2017 di Kuching merupakan platform untuk mencapai impian membawa filem ASEAN di mata dunia. Selain itu, AIFFA 2017 akan memecahkan rekod Guinness World Record untuk perhimpunan dengan pakaian seragam kucing paling ramai yang diadakan di Kuching, Sarawak.

Macam-macam aktiviti yang akan dianjurkan antaranya Seminar Perfileman dan juga macam lagi lah menanti di Malam Gala AIFFA.

Pengarah Festival, Livan Tajang menjanjikan AIFFA 2017 dengan aktiviti yang menyeronokkan untuk semua. Delekasi serta penggiat filem antarabangsa, Malaysia dan ASIA akan dapat bertemu dan bertukar pendapat serta bertukar fikiran tentang tayangan filem yang akan diadakan nanti.

Lanjutan dari acara AIFFA 2017, satu pertandingan filem pendek akan diperkenalkan bagi menyemarakkan lagi serta memeriahkan pesta pada tahun ini. AIFFA telah membangun menjadi sebuah festival filem premiere di ASEAN dalam tempoh yang singkat setiap dua tahun sekali.

Selain menonton filem yang dipertandingkan secara percuma bermula bulan April nanti di Amphitheatre Waterfront Kuching, Sarawak, anda juga berpeluang menyertai bengkel lakonan dan penulisan skrip anjuran Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional. Amacam? Best kan?
